Announced: Canon EOS R8 Mark II due in late October
Canon has announced the EOS R8 Mark II, a 24.2MP full-frame camera with 5-axis IBIS and electronic shooting up to 40fps. It offers uncropped 6K-oversampled 4K/60p and Full HD/180p, and is expected in late October at an estimated $1,899 body price. Canon also announced Dual Pixel 3D Converter for creating 3D imagery from compatible images.
Why it matters: It is a compact full-frame option for stabilized handheld photo, video and streaming work. Product shooters may also want to assess the separate 3D workflow.

Announced: Sony adds lightweight 400mm and 600mm G Master primes
Sony has announced the FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS and FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS for full-frame E-mount. They weigh about 994g and 995g respectively, excluding tripod mounts, with European availability listed for late September. Sony also lists Alpha 9 III support for up to 120fps continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking.
Why it matters: Wildlife and sports shooters get two long primes designed for more handholdable use. Check local pricing and availability before planning a system purchase.

Announced: Meta One bundles subscription and creator tools
Meta has announced Meta One, a subscription service across its apps and Meta AI. The Advanced creator and business tier includes story scheduling up to 30 days ahead, links in organic posts and reels, exportable analytics, audience insights and team access. Plans, benefits, pricing and availability vary by region, app and account.
Why it matters: Compare the publishing and analytics features with your existing tool stack before switching. Availability and feature sets need checking on the specific account.

Announced: TikTok to test stronger detection of AI spam
TikTok has announced AI-literacy resources and an in-app learning hub surfaced through AI-related searches. It will also test improved detection of accounts dedicated to mass-producing AI-generated spam; this is not yet a completed rollout. TikTok joined the C2PA Steering Committee and says it has labeled more than three billion videos as AI-generated.
Why it matters: Accounts publishing synthetic content at volume should watch the test closely. Preserve provenance where possible and label AI media clearly.

Announced: Ricoh GR IV 30th Anniversary Edition Kit
Ricoh has announced the RICOH GR IV 30th Anniversary Edition Kit, limited to 6,000 units worldwide. It adds GR1-inspired control finishes, a commemorative power-off graphic, an exclusive ring cap, leather finger strap, metal hot-shoe cover and 16 pin badges. Ricoh says the core camera specifications are unchanged from the standard GR IV.
Why it matters: This is primarily a collector edition, not a capability upgrade. The standard model remains the practical choice for buyers seeking performance.
