Nikon puts a 1.4× converter inside its fast 120–300mm zoom
The NIKKOR Z 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S covers 120–300mm at f/2.8, or 168–420mm at f/4 with its built-in 1.4× teleconverter engaged. The S-Line lens is due in mid-November for $13,999.95.
Why it matters: For sports and wildlife work, it removes a lens swap just when distance to the subject changes. It is firmly pro-priced, but the combination of speed and instant reframing is unusually useful.

Capture One 16.9 keeps more portrait cleanup in the raw workflow
Capture One 16.9 adds adjustable Stray Hair Removal, Skin Tone Retouching and Body Skin Retouching. It also brings exact RGB/HSL colour matching and further changes to the Color Editor.
Why it matters: This targets repetitive portrait finishing rather than headline-grabbing automation. Keeping routine cleanup in the raw editor should preserve editability better than sending every job through a separate retouching pass.

Viltrox brings a fast 35mm to Sony E and Nikon Z for $829
The full-frame AF 35mm f/1.4 Pro arrives for Sony E and Nikon Z mounts. Viltrox specifies HyperVCM autofocus, weather sealing and reduced focus breathing.
Why it matters: A 35mm f/1.4 is a working focal length for reportage and hybrid shooting, and this price makes it a credible alternative to costlier native lenses. The breathing claim is particularly relevant to video, though it still merits real-world testing.

SmallHD’s Focus 504 ships now; wireless control remains a future extra
The $999 Focus 504 is a five-inch, 1080p, 1000-nit monitor with 3G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 I/O, PageOS tools and locking USB-C ports. Its Wi-Fi hardware is present, but camera control will arrive later through separately sold licences.
Why it matters: Buy it for SmallHD’s monitoring, exposure, focus and LUT tools today, not for promised wireless control. That distinction matters on a compact owner-operator rig where the monitor has to justify its price immediately.

Resolve 21.1.2 makes targeted gains in editing and motion graphics
DaVinci Resolve 21.1.2 improves timeline edit-point selection, speeds OGraf playback and adds OGraf/Lottie support on Linux. The Studio edition also accelerates IntelliSearch analysis on Apple M6 systems.
Why it matters: This is an incremental release, not a reset of the Resolve workflow. It is most meaningful for editors encountering timeline friction and motion teams using OGraf templates, with Linux support widening its appeal in specialised post environments.
